The Happenings

This is a boring picture-less update post.
But it has a pretty scary story! Keep reading!!

Today Troy went flying to practice some of the maneuvers he would need to do for his final check ride next week. (The big test for him to get his private pilot license!) So him and Zack (his instructor) were making what is called a clearing turn, where you do 2-90 degree turns to make sure your air space is clear. After he finished his turns, he put the flaps down to start his manuevers. Instead, the plane started turning. Troy looked at Zack, thinking it was some kind of test, and Zack asked Troy if they were doing another clearing turn. Troy then realized something was up, and told Zack that he couldn't turn the plane left. (The plane just was driving itself into circles, and couldn't be controlled) Zack quickly took control of the plane, flipped the flaps back up and landed the plane without them, at a pretty fast speed. When they had landed, they realized that the maintenance man working on the plane had screwed the bushing on top of the bolt instead of underneath (a bushing is similar to a washer.) This caused the aileron (the things that turn the plane) to hit that part of the flap, and not work. Troy said he was freaked out, but not as freaked as Zack was because he didn't realize something was wrong until Zack was already trying to fix it. But still. Pretty scary stuff. Luckily they were very close to the airport, and Zack was able to fix it quickly.  Just goes to show that Troy has to be able to think on his feet quick! He handled himself very well, and I was proud that him and Zack were able to quickly save themselves and the plane. Plus, Troy's flight was free. :]
Hopefully this is our only scary thing!! :]

In other news, school started again for Troy. I'm not going because of the baby, and it's really different. But oh well! Troy is no longer working for Icon, and I'm loving having him home at nights. I still work for the Jewkes family, and love it there. We are both working on getting another job for me, and a job for Troy. Cross your fingers for us! :]

Oh..oh..oh!!!!! I'm so glad everyone turned out well. Sounds like a learning experience that was a bit too real. Troy you have a good steady head and I know you'll do well in such situations.

Good luck job hunting!
